Why Drug and Alcohol Interventions

Interventions for substance abusers can be a life-saving measure. Intervention is a process that interrupts potentially life-threatening addictions.

Most individuals with an addiction problem will usually not have the ability for impartial insight into how serious their substance abuse or alcohol problem has become.

Also, ‘functional addicts’ will not recognize their addiction and may work successfully for years without addiction treatment.  However, addiction takes a terrible toll on personal relationships and families; and on children in particular.

Does Silicon Valley Performance Pressure Create Addicts?

Biohacking is the new frontier in Silicon Valley. Some hard working coders and entrepreneurs use nootropics (mostly legal) and smart drugs as performance enhancing substances.

Others turn to illegal drugs: Cocaine, Adderall, Meth and Opioids.

Since the ‘Vitamin C’ days in the 1970’s – it has been apparent that cocaine is (in fact) very addictive; and it has a long list of negative health effects. In 2018, cocaine is also now considered by many to be just another ‘cognitive enhancing‘ drug.

Some cocaine users in Silicon Valley are relying on Smart Watches to monitor their binges.

Tech workers, speaking anonymously, told CNBC‘s Christina Farr that they keep an eye on their wrist between lines of drugs to decide whether or not to do more.

Students, coders, tech entrepreneurs and workers in all industries are also taking the prescription stimulant Adderall. For some, this began as a childhood prescription for ADHD. Others obtain and take Adderall illegally, as a smart drug or performance enhancer.

When Adderall becomes too expensive or hard to source – many begin using meth. Not only is meth more addictive – the side effects of routine meth use are truly shocking and health destroying.

The Down Side to Stimulants – Opioids for Insomnia

A functional addiction to illegal performance enhancers (such as Adderall, meth and cocaine) leads to insomnia.

To sleep on command after consuming strong stimulants – many hard core biohackers taking illegal stimulants eventually begin taking opioids to sleep.

An addiction to opioids is serious. Combined with an addiction to stimulants – it is often deadly.
