What is IOP Intensive Outpatient Program Rehab Treatment?
Recovery Happens outpatient programs are unlike any others in the Bay Area and Northern California.
The goals of our Outpatient Programs are to establish sobriety and psychosocial supports, provide coping strategies and facilitate relapse prevention.
Intensive outpatient programs IOPs work best for individuals with substance use disorders (including dual diagnosis) who do not require medical detox or 24-hour supervision.
IOP is an opportunity for individuals to begin addiction recovery treatment while still participating in their daily lives at work, school and home. And IOP programs allow patients to continue addiction recovery after residential rehab. This includes those with dual diagnosis issues such as depression, anxiety or other mental health issues.
At Recovery Happens – virtual IOP Treatment (including MAT Medication-Assisted Therapy) is available via telehealth.
Recovery Happens Alumni programs provide continuing care and support. Our IOP Intensive Outpatient Program graduates are also welcome to attend the IOP Program, as needed, for life.

Evening IOP Groups Available
Evening groups are available so that patients are able to meet daily home, work, and school commitments.
Recovery Happens has very successful evening IOP programs that allow patients to receive addiction treatment without taking time off work, school or other commitments.
Our 12 Week IOP Program begins (or continues) the process of life-long recovery from addiction and addictive behaviors.
Individual therapy is a part of Recovery Happens IOP. Our Dual Diagnosis treatment integrates care for co-occurring disorders (such as depression, anxiety, or trauma) as part of the IOP treatment process. Random drug testing is also part of the intensive outpatient program.
Clients in IOP initially attend group therapy every night for the first two to three weeks. On the nights they are not in group, integration into community recovery meetings takes place. IOP is transitional in nature and includes two specific step-down phases.
Patients who enroll in the Evening IOP Program attend group sessions three times per week; and individual therapy sessions once per week.

IOP Intensive Outpatient Program Treatment Goals
Our IOP treatment seeks to establish psychosocial supports and facilitate relapse prevention and coping strategies. Outpatient addiction treatment includes EMDR and Brainspotting with CADC II and Masters Level counselors.
In addition to group sessions, each client meets with a counselor each week to individualize their treatment experience.
Recovery Happens IOP is dedicated to providing optimal care for each client’s unique needs, and we are proud of our ability to do this!

Conscious Recovery – Treating the Whole Person
All Recovery Happens IOP counselors are certified in Conscious Recovery.
This whole person treatment philosophy moves beyond simply treating behaviors and symptoms.
Conscious Recovery focuses on the underlying root causes that drive destructive patterns. It provides clear steps for letting go of core false beliefs that lead to addictive tendencies. Whether it is unresolved trauma, spiritual disconnection, or toxic shame – these challenges need to be addressed in order to achieve sobriety and permanent freedom from addiction.
Conscious Recovery assists individuals in creating a life filled with love and connection. It explores methods for changing the ways of thinking that keep individuals stuck in a pattern of hopelessness. The goal is to come into alignment with an existence guided by compassion and filled with purpose.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Available
Recovery Happens IOP – Virtual or In-Person Treatment
MAT Medication-Assisted Therapy is available as a part of our IOP programs – virtual or in-person IOP.
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a whole patient approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. Medications used in MAT are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). MAT programs are clinically driven and tailored to meet each patient’s needs.
Research shows that a combination of medication and therapy can successfully treat alcohol use disorder and opioid use disorders. For some individuals struggling with addiction, MAT can help sustain recovery. MAT is also used to prevent or reduce opioid overdose.
MAT is used for the treatment of addiction to opioids such as heroin and prescription pain relievers. MAT is also effective for treating addiction to alcohol.

Detox – The First Step in Addiction Recovery
New Start Recovery Solutions has medically-assisted detox available in our Concord (East Bay) and Bangor (Chico area) locations.
Detox enables individuals to begin a journey from addiction to addiction treatment and wellness.
Entering detox is an act of courage for those who have an addiction problem. There is often fear about the detox process. And there is concern about whether detox symptoms will be unpleasant or painful.
The first step in detox is a thorough medical assessment. Our medical staff will gather patient information on medical history and details about the addiction during assessment. This information is used to develop an individualized detox plan.
During medically assisted detox, patients are monitored 24/7 by medical staff. Medication will be prescribed, as needed, to deal with withdrawal symptoms.
The cycle of addiction can be broken – beginning with safe detox. For most individuals, detox is the first step in entering treatment for substance abuse or alcohol use disorders.
New Start Recovery Solutions fully staffed facilities provide a safe and comfortable environment to go through the process of substance withdrawal. And it allows our patients to focus solely on healing.
