Medication-Assisted Treatment MAT for Opioid Addiction SAVES Lives
Recovery Happens Counseling Services has outpatient medication-assisted treatment MAT for opioid addiction.
“We know what works,” said Patrice A. Harris, M.D., chair of the AMA Opioid Task Force. “We can point to states where making access to medication assisted treatment (MAT) has been a priority, and the mortality rates are doing down. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provisional numbers yet again underscore that this epidemic will not be reversed until we deal with access issues and stigma associated with opioid misuse.”
With opioid deaths increasing, AMA urges expansion of proven treatment
Outpatient M.A.T. Medication-Assisted Treatment at New Start Recovery Solutions and Recovery Happens Counseling Services
New Start Recovery Solutions and Recovery Happens Counseling Services use MAT Medication-Assisted Treatment for treatment of opioid addictions. Opioids include prescription pain relievers, heroin and fentanyl.
Medications used in M.A.T.:
· Prevent Painful Withdrawal
· Reduce Opioid Cravings
Medication-Assisted Treatment is the safest and most effective method for treating opioid use disorders.
M.A.T. uses medications that are an Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT).
Medications used in M.A.T. are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
· Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a whole-patient approach to the treatment of substance use disorders.
· M.A.T. is considered the ‘gold standard’ treatment for opioid addiction. Our M.A.T. programs are clinically driven and tailored to meet each the needs of each patient.
· Research shows that a combination of medication and therapy can successfully treat opioid addiction disorders. For those struggling with addiction, M.A.T. helps to sustain long-term recovery.
· M.A.T. also helps to prevent and reduce opioid overdose.
‘A staggering increase’: Yearly overdose deaths top 100,000 for first time. Overdose deaths due to opioids, including fentanyl, accounted for more than 75 percent of the deaths. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Wednesday Nov 17, 2021. This is a troubling milestone amid an already devastating period for the country. The number of overdose deaths rose 29 percent, from 78,056 from April 2019 to April 2020, to 100,306 in the following 12 months. “It’s a staggering increase for one year,” said Bob Anderson, chief of the mortality statistics branch at the NCHS.

Outpatient Mental Health Care Sacramento
New Start Recovery Solutions Sacramento now provides primary mental health care therapy as a part of our Outpatient Programs.
In working with our patients – we identified an unmet need for primary mental health care services.
We noticed that some patients in our dual diagnosis addiction treatment programs could greatly benefit from extended individual and/or group psychotherapy.
We received requests from friends and family members of our patients for individual therapy and counseling. And we received inquiries from the general public for individual mental health care services.
As a part of our continuum of care – we are very happy to provide extended individual psychotherapy for our patients. And to provide the same quality mental health care therapy to the general public.
